British Bakels are proud to partner with Bicester foodbank to support local people, the first in a series of activities the company is planning under a new “Bakels in the community” initiative.

The Bicester foodbank, supported by the Trussell Trust, is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in the local area. The foodbank is one of 428 across the UK working to tackle food poverty and hunger in local communities.

Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. A simple box of food makes a big difference, with foodbanks helping prevent crime, housing loss, family breakdown and mental health problems. Food is donated from a variety of different people and businesses and sorted by a whole host of volunteers into boxes ready for those who need it most.

At Bakels, we share the same local mission as the foodbank and that’s why we have launched an initiative to donate freshly baked staple products weekly to support local people. The first of a series of activities moving forward, the initiative looks to give back to the people of Bicester and surrounding area and play a small role in tackling the larger challenges facing the population of the UK.
